Privacy policy

Your progress stays on your phone. No account, no ads, and we never sell your data. This page says exactly what we keep, and how to delete it.

Version of 6 October 2026. This policy covers the calaustralia.com website and the Cal Australia app for iPhone and Android.

Who is responsible for your data

Cal Australia is made by MatchLab s.r.o., a company registered in the Czech Republic, Školská 660/3, 110 00 Prague 1, company number (IČO) 24424455. For any question about your data, write to hello@calaustralia.com.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 for all personal information we handle, whether or not the Act applies to a business of our size. Because we are a European company, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also applies to us.

In short

The app

What stays on your phone

Your answers, practice test results, lessons, settings, reminders and, if you enter it, your test appointment date are stored only on your phone. We cannot see them. They are not included in your phone's cloud backup, so they do not come back after you reinstall the app. Your purchase does come back with Restore.

App statistics

To make the lessons better, the app sends usage events: for example that a lesson was finished, that a practice test was submitted with its score, or that the app had a technical error (its type and the screen, never an error message). Each event carries a random number made by the app, which does not say who you are, plus the app version, the type of phone and its system version.

The app never sends: your name, your email, anything you type, the text of your answers, your test date (only a range, such as "8 to 30 days away"), your age, your answers to the eligibility check, your appointment details or your nationality. Locating you from your internet address is turned off. Session recording is off.

You can turn app statistics off at any time in Settings, My data. Our reason (legal basis under the GDPR) is our legitimate interest in improving the app and fixing errors.

Payments

The Full plan is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes your payment under their own privacy rules; we never see your card. To check and restore your purchase we use RevenueCat, which receives a random purchase number made by the app and the store receipt, with no name or email. The purchase number is separate from the statistics number, so the two are never joined.

Read-aloud audio

Some recorded voices are downloaded after you install the app, from calaustralia.com through Cloudflare. The app asks only for the audio files, with no identifier. Cloudflare sees the usual network details (such as your internet address) to deliver them. The app never uses the microphone.

Reminders

Study reminders are scheduled on your phone. They do not go through any server. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.

The website

The website counts page views, the page you came from (for example a search engine or one of our links) and a few actions: that a practice test was started or finished, its score range, whether the values questions were all right, the weakest Part, and clicks on store buttons. It never sends your answers. Nothing is stored on your device for this: no cookies, no local storage. To count a visit of several pages as one, our statistics tool makes a temporary number from your internet address and browser, renewed every day; the address itself is not kept.

While you take the practice test, your answers are kept in your browser tab (session storage), so a reload does not lose your place. They are deleted when you close the tab and never leave your browser.

Store buttons on the website carry the page and button they came from. On Android, the app reads this once, at first launch, and keeps only an allowed campaign name (such as "home" or "result").

The website does not ask for your email and has no forms.

Emails to us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to answer you and to fix what you report, and we keep them for as long as we need to handle your request, 2 years at most.

How long we keep it

Delete your data

On your phone: in the app, open Settings, My data, Delete everything, and confirm. Your answers, scores and test date leave the phone, reminders are cancelled and the statistics number is replaced by a new one. Your Full plan is not lost: Restore brings it back.

Statistics already sent: in the app, open Settings, My data, "Ask us to erase your statistics". Your email app opens with a message to hello@calaustralia.com that contains your statistics number, so we can find and erase those events. You can also write to us yourself. Uninstalling the app does not delete data that services already hold, so please ask us.

Emails: write to hello@calaustralia.com with the subject "Erase my data" and we delete your messages.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Write to hello@calaustralia.com. Because statistics carry no name, we can find them only with the statistics number from the app.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or to the Czech data protection authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection.

Children

Cal Australia is made for adults preparing for the citizenship test. It is not directed at children.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update it here with a new date. If a change is important, the app tells you.
